History of Wing Chun
The history of Wing Chun has been passed down by word of mouth over several hundred years, so it has probably been greatly exaggerated and enhanced, and is therefore open to much interpretation. The story goes that around 1662-1722 a Buddhist nun named Ng Mui fled the Honan Province of China, to avoid capture by the Manchu government. Ng Mui adopted the principals and concepts that she saw and developed a fighting style based upon the human skeletal and muscular framework that focused on practicality and effectiveness. |
